PFC Thomas Trantham, a member of the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colo., was recently deployed to Iraq. Trantham is a 2002 graduate of Alexandria High School. He is the husband of Rebecca Trantham of Saks and the son of John and Polly Trantham of Alexandria, and son-in-law to L.J. and Mary Haynes of Saks.

2LT David M. Abbott, a recent graduate of Chemical BOLC at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., in a change of command ceremony on Sept. 7, assumed command as the 490th Chemical Battalion Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment Commander. David Abbott is a 1983 graduate of Spring Garden High School and has 24 years of time in service, 22 of those as an enlisted soldier. Abbott has a masters degree from Faulkner University and is all but dissertation in a Ph.D. degree from Capella University. In February 2006, Abbott received a direct commission. 2LT Abbott resides in Anniston, where his unit is located.
