Victorie Smith was recently named to the dean's list, college of Sciences and Mathematics, for spring semester 2008 at Auburn University, after having demonstrated superior academic achievement by attaining a 4.0 grade point average. She is a 2006 graduate of Gadsden City High School and is the daughter of Jim and Vicki Smith and granddaughter of Peter and Janet Gregerson of Rainbow City, and Doris Smith of Anniston.
Kaci Ashton Coppock of Fyffe, a 2007 graduate of Fort Payne High School and former resident of Ranburne, has entered her sophomore year at Northeast Alabama Community
College on a presidential scholarship.
While at Northeast, she has been a member of the Presidential Host Program and was elected to lead the program for 2008. She was recently elected sophomore student government representative and recently received the 2008 Northeast "Mustangs" academic leadership award.
She has participated in many activities and community services while in the host program. Most recently she worked daily with 400 Louisiana evacuees housed at Northeast.
While being a full-time student, she works part-time in the office of the president of Northeast and is a part-time youth minister on the staff of East Gadsden Church of God in Gadsden.
With this full schedule, she found time to be in the cast of Northeast's spring musical, Oliver Twist, for 12 performances.
After this year at Northeast, she plans to further her education and pursue a degree in pediatric speech therapy.
She is the daughter of Tim and Kandi Coppock, sister of Kanaan, all of Fyffe, and the granddaughter of Teresa Montgomery of Ranburne and Ed and Sara Coppock of Anniston.
