Air Force Airman Brian C. Chatham, a 2006 graduate of Hewitt Trussville High School in Trussville, recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Karen Reid of Jacksonville.

Army Pvt. Christopher D. Sanford, a 1999 graduate of Oxford High School, recently graduated from the H-8 Tracked Vehicle Recovery Specialist Course at Fort Knox, Ky.

He is the son of Rick D. and Prissy D. Sanford of Oxford.

Army Reserve Sgt. 1st Class Norman L. Anika recently participated in an annual training exercise termed "Diamond Saber" at Fort McCoy in Sparta, Wis.

The exercise is for financial management units of the U.S. Army (Active and Reserve Components) to refresh their knowledge and practice the skills needed to perform their mission.

He has served in the military for 33 years.

He is the son of Ruby M. Anika of Fort Myers, Fla.

His wife, Donna, is the daughter of Charles E. and Imogene Murphy of Piedmont.

Navy Seaman Recruit Richard N. Stone, a 2007 graduate of Piedmont High School, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.

Coast Guard Seaman James M. Price, brother of Courtney P. Taylor of Roanoke, recently graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, N.J.

He is a 2006 graduate of Handley High School in Roanoke.
