Madison Avery Webb was recently crowned "Miss Oxford 2008." Webb is 16 years old and will be a senior at Oxford High School in the fall. She is a National Honor Society member and is to graduate with an Advanced Honors Diploma with two career technical endorsements. She volunteers her summers working on the GYN/Pediatric floor at Regional Medical Center. After graduation, she plans to attend Samford University in Birmingham and pursue a career in pediatric nursing. She is the daughter of Marc and Kim Webb, sister of Tucker Webb, all of Oxford. She is the granddaughter of Paige and Phillip Snider of Oxford, Sue Webb, Joe and Monika Webb of Anniston and the late Eddie Fleming of Oxford. * * *

April Boyd graduated in May from Trinity Christian Academy. She is pictured with Dr. C.O. Grimstead. She is the daughter of James and Debra Boyd. * * *Ken Rollins was presented the "Veteran of the Year" award by Dr. Wayne Reynolds at the Vietnam Veterans of America, Alabama State Council convention held in Athens in June. In presenting the award, Reynolds said, "Ken Rollins has been instrumental in the building of the State Council, and his contributions are too many to list today." Rollins stated, "When I have been nominated for this coveted award before, I declined it because receiving it would interfere with my chapter's Veterans Day program. This year I will be in Birmingham to receive the award." The governor is to present Rollins with the "Veteran of the Year" award in Birmingham at Boutwell Auditorium on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.
