Air Force Master Sgt. Billy C. Ferguson Jr. was recently named as a nominee for the Air Force Space Command's Outstanding Airman of the Year.

He is the son of Billy C. Ferguson Sr. of Meridian, Miss., and Linda Ferguson of Jacksonville.

His wife, Crystal, is the daughter of Jacque Taylor of Spokane, Wash.

His military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, two Air Force Commendation Medals, and two Air Force Achievement Medals.

Andrew H. Warren recently joined the U.S. Army under the delayed entry program. Warren, a 2006 graduate of Autauga County Adult Education in Prattville, attended basic training in May.

He is the son of David Warren of Jacksonville and Patricia Wisdom of Pell City.

Timothy S. Murphy recently joined the U.S. Army under the delayed entry program. Murphy is to report for basic training in August.

He is the son of Kirby and Donna Murphy of Piedmont.

Army Pfc. Darrell L. Young, a 2007 graduate of Oxford High School, recently graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

He is the son of Calvin and Tiffany Baisden of Oxford.

Army Pfc. Brandon S. Sneed, a 2007 graduate of Randolph-Clay High School in Cuthbert, Ga., recently graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

He is the brother of Thomas Derrico of Albany, Ga., and nephew of Calvin Baisden of Oxford.

Christopher M. Cross, a 2004 graduate of a high school program at Gadsden State Community College, joined the U.S. Army and reported to Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla., in April.

He is the son of Vincent and Janice Cross of Eastaboga.

His wife, Amie, is the daughter of Dennis and Patricia Edwards of Piedmont.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Sean M. Kinner recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

He is the son of Marilyn Kinner of Hermitage, Tenn., and Kenneth Kinner of Jacksonville.
