Kowatana/Skinner wedding

Misty Shai Kowatana and Marcus Johnson Skinner were married on July 19, 2008 at 6 p.m. at Golden Springs Baptist Church in Anniston. Dr. Roland Brown performed the ceremony. Music was provided by Donna May, piano, Susan Lee, organ, Dr. John Merriman, trumpet, vocalists were Kate Van Meter and Jennifer Pate.

Parents of the bride are Tim and Jan Hooper of Oxford.

Parents of the groom are Larry and Gail Skinner of Oxford.

Grandparents of the bride are Mrs. June Peabody and Mrs. Leola Hooper and the late Mr. Donald Peabody, the late Mr. Jerre Mitchell and the late Mr. Earl Hooper.

Grandparents of the groom are Deward and Vergie Skinner and the late Chester and Velma Rosamond.

Bridesmaids were Tatum Buckhannan, Ashley Burnell, Lindsay Hall, Maribeth Andino, Leslie Tatum, Ashley Knight and Cristin Malone.

The matron of honor was Kate Van Meter.

Groomsmen were Stephen Skinner, Jonathan Skinner, Britt Strickland, Rick Lipham, Jason White, Joel Van Meter and Dana Deese

The best man was Larry Skinner.

The bride wore an ivory gown of tissue taffeta with a full-length train. Her fitted bodice was adorned with Swarovski crystals and fastened around the neck. Her veil was ivory silk illusion that hung to her hips, and the scalloped edges were also trimmed with sparkling Swarovski crystals. The bride carried a cascading bouquet of purple and magenta calla lilies, and her bridesmaids carried presentation bouquets of magenta calla lilies. The church was decorated with all white calla lilies and candles.

The wedding director was Martha Otwell.

The program attendant was Callen Brown.

The guest registrar was Ashley Henninger.

The couple's honeymoon was a two-week Mediterranean cruise to Italy, Spain and France. The couple will reside in Villa Rica, Ga.
