The Major General Patrick R. Cleburne UDC Chapter met on July 15 at the Parish Hall of the Heflin First United Methodist Church. In the photo of incoming officers for the next two years, seated left to right are: Pat Killian, Treasurer; Joan Lovvorn, Vice Pres ident; Lynda Lowery, President and Registrar. Standing left to right are: Ann Norton, Corresponding Secretary; Anne Vaillancourt, Recording Secretary; Glenda Williams, Co-Treasurer; Terri Dean, Assistant Registrar; Carolyn Skinner, Chaplain; and Gloria Griggs, Historian.

Annually this Chapter holds an informal meeting each July to make plans for the next UDC year. Projects for the coming year were planned on July 15, with attention paid to meeting all five objectives of the United Daughters of the Confederacy: historical, educational, benevolent, memorial and patriotic.

A silent auction was held at the meeting, with proceeds going to the Chapter’s do nation for conservation of 26th Alabama Infantry Flag at the Alabama Department of Archives and History. Also, Chapter delegates were elected for the Alabama Division Convention to be held September 18-20 in Montgomery. At noon during the July meet ing, each member shared her favorite salad or dessert.
