Updated 11:40 a.m.

Randolph County officials announced today that Korean-based Silla America Inc. will open a facility in the county.

According to a press release, the facility will fabricate metal auto pallets in support of the forthcoming Kia Plant in West Point, Ga., 40 miles south and west.

The plant will employee 10 to 20 employees the first year and will operate out of the former Hub Trucking building south of Wedowee. In the press release, Gerald Huddleston, acting director of the Randolph County Industrial Development Council, said the company plans to start work on the Hub Trucking Building in mid-July, and renovations are expected to take about three months to complete.

Silla America also has a plant in Brantley, supporting the Hyundai facility in Montgomery.
