Calhoun County Sheriff's Deputies have charged two people with possession of drugs in Piedmont and arrested another who placed an unlucky phone call. Jonathan Edward Green, 22, of Jacksonville, and Valerie Denise Finch, 37, of Piedmont, were charged with one count each of possession of a controlled substance and one count each of possession of drug paraphernalia. Deputies arrested the two in a home on Caton Street in Piedmont at around 11:15 a.m. today after executing a search warrant. Calhoun County Sheriff Larry Amerson said deputies found substances believed to be marijuana and methamphetamines in the home. According to the sheriff, deputies were in the house when the phone rang. A deputy answered, and the caller told the deputy he wanted to buy $60 worth of meth. The deputy arranged a place to meet the caller and when he and other deputies went to the designated location at the designated time they found Ricky Wayne Hackney, 25, of Piedmont with $60 in his pocket, the sheriff said. Hackney was arrested and is charged with attempt to commit a controlled substance crime. All three suspects were in the Calhoun County Jail today. Their bond amounts had not been set. |
