Police seek gunman who prompted brief lockdown at Samford
|
BIRMINGHAM — Authorities are trying to find a gunman who prompted an early morning lockdown on the Samford University campus in suburban Birmingham. A man dressed in black pointed a gun at a campus security officer in a parking deck about 5:30 a.m. Friday. He then ran away. Dorms at the campus were placed on lockdown, and officers and school officials searched for the gunman. Nothing was found, and university officials say he apparently left campus. Authorities issued the all-clear after about two hours, but police in the Birmingham metro area are still on the lookout for the man. |
