|
In a joint effort between law enforcement officers from three agencies, the suspect in this morning's Cheaha Bank robbery in Alexandria, has been taken into custody. Around 12:05 p.m., Anniston police spotted a green Pontiac Grand Am near the intersection of Greenbrier Dear Road and Quintard Avenue. The car matched the description of the one possibly driven by the man who robbed the bank. Police stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver without incident. A search of the car revealed clothing that matched the description of what the robber was wearing, provided by witnesses at the bank, and money believed to have been from the bank. According to Calhoun County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Matthew Wade, the man is in custody and currently being interviewed by police. A man reportedly walked into the bank branch at 120 Big Valley Road around 9:38 a.m. and slipped a note to the teller, said Wade. Police are investigating the similarities between this morning's robbery and two other recent bank robberies in Calhoun County. The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office will hold a press conference regarding the robbery at 3:30 p.m. today. Check back with www.annistonstar.com for more details. |
