Alabama linebacker Zeke Knight remains sidelined indefinitely after a heart-related hospitalization, Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban said Tuesday.

Knight, a rising senior from Wedowee and the Crimson Tide's sixth-leading tackler in 2007, fell ill during an offseason workout on Jan. 28, and spent several days in the hospital. He has not been medically cleared to resume football activities, but has not necessarily been ruled out for spring practice, which begins on March 13.

"Zeke Knight continues to be tested and evaluated," Saban said. "There has been no decision or determination as to what his future will bring. He's been with us here every day in the offseason program, but he's not been allowed to participate. When we make some final determination on that, or the medical staff determines that, we'll certainly let you know."

Also Tuesday, Saban announced that starting inside linebacker Prince Hall has been indefinitely suspended for violation of team rules. Hall, a freshman All-American in 2006, will not be allowed to participate in offseason workouts or spring practice.

Freshman defensive end Jeremy Elder, arrested on two counts of armed robbery on Feb. 17, has been dismissed from the team, Saban said. No disciplinary action has yet been determined for senior safety Rashad Johnson, who was arrested on a disorderly conduct charge last weekend, Saban said.

Saban also confirmed the departure of two scholarship players, offensive linemen B.J. Stabler and Cody Davis, from the team for medical reasons. If granted NCAA medical hardship waivers, both will remain on scholarship, but no longer practice or work out with the team.
