U.S. Marshals in Cleveland, Ohio, have arrested a registered sex offender from Anniston who was out on bond for a 2006 murder charge and is wanted in another shooting in January.

Marshals arrested Keyonte Reine Chick, 27, around 8:30 a.m. Thursday and Anniston police were working this afternoon to get him extradited back to Alabama. He was in the Cleveland City Jail this afternoon according to the marshals.

Anniston police had a warrant for Chick's arrest in connection with a Jan. 30 shooting on West 15th Street, which sent Dexter Spinks to the hospital. Investigators said Spinks underwent surgery, but the shooting was not fatal.

Investigators in Anniston said they received a tip placing Chick in Cleveland and contacted the marshal service.

Brian Fitzgibbon, public relations officer for the U.S. Marshal Cleveland Office, said Chick was found hiding in his girlfriend's attic, was unarmed and did not resist arrest.

When marshals entered the girlfriend's house, Chick was seen fleeing up the back steps, according to Fitzgibbon. After authorities cleared the house, officers went into the attic where Chick surrendered, according to reports.

Chick's girlfriend Iyana Wynn, of Cleveland, also had outstanding warrants and was taken into custody as well, Fitzgibbon said.

Chick was out on bond for his suspected involvement in a fatal shooting in Norwood Homes on Nov. 9, 2006 that left Christopher Toson dead.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Safety, Chick is a registered sex offender listed on the Department's Web site as being convicted of raping a 14-year-old girl in 1999.

The site lists Chick's last verified address as 3016 Brighton Avenue in Anniston.

The marshals said Chick could face charges for violating the conditions of his bond and for failing to comply with his notification requirements as a sex offender in addition to his January assault charge.
