Scorching weather getting you down? If it is, and nothing sounds better to you than a cold beer on a hot summer day, you’ll want to join the Children’s Services Board for a relaxing afternoon of beer tasting, where you can taste your way around the world, one brew at a time, perhaps even discovering a new favorite flavor.

Oxford’s Mellow Mushroom will close to the public from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday in order to accommodate a beer tasting, which will benefit the Parris Home. For $25 per person, guests will enjoy assorted international and gourmet beers, heavy hors d’oeuvres and, of course, Mellow Mushroom pizza and live music on the patio.

Tickets — which are going faster than a frosty mug on a hot Alabama afternoon — are available at Mellow Mushroom. This fundraiser will provide much-needed financial assistance for the agency’s Parris Home, a group home for young people ages 6-18 in protective care.
