July 29, 1935, in The Star: One of the few licensed female dentists in the South will begin practice soon in the Wilson Building with established Anniston dentists Dr. Frank Leyden and Dr. George Leyden. She is Dr. Mary W. Lytle, originally from Tennessee but lately of Birmingham. Also this date: Mr. Marvin Yalovitz was host at his home on Saturday evening on Woodstock Avenue, entertaining with a dance. Billie Baker’s orchestra provided the music. Additionally: Inspection commenced today of sites at Fort McClellan that would be suitable for the location of some $2 million worth of expansion and improvements, mostly in the form of new buildings.

July 29, 1985, in The Star: The desire for a safe parking area in town and to end what some see as “harassment” by city police has prompted a series of meetings in Jacksonville by young people and parents. “The main thing we want is a place to gather and not have to stay home on Saturday night,” said Dean Key, 15, of Jacksonville.
