It’s absolutly true. If you ever watched "Walking Tall", the scene at the bar where Bufford Pusser was beat on the pool table. Leon Smith was said to have been in the room at the time. Shortly after the movie’s released Smith had to relocated his family here to Oxford.

New to the anniston Star forum so Hello! I have several friends and other acquaintances that work in anniston and have heard several different people talking about Leon Smith. Does anyone have any info or has anyone else heard anything about the Mayor Leon Smith being involved with the issue of Sheriff Buford Pusser in McNairy County Tennessee. Rumor has it Leon Smith was involved with the state line mob and the dealings of Sheriff Pusser some years ago. Has anyone else heard this rumor and is there any truth to it that anyone knows.
