The Montgomery County Board of Education approved a plan Monday that eliminates 256 school jobs, including those of teachers, assistant principals and support staff.

Superintendent Barbara Thompson presented the board with three options for reducing Montgomery Public Schools' staff to address a projected $13.7 million shortfall in state, local and federal funding next school year. Thompson also proposed a new organizational chart.
