However, while probably legal, it is somewhat questionable.
I think this should be discontinued because this is just something to print because there isn’t anything else interesting in this town. It should not be at the expense of peoples privacy. Yes, these are public record, but, public records are there on a need to know kind of thing and printing peoples private business is not a “need to know”. If someone wants to know these things, they should be required to go and look them up. That way, people won’t get embarrassed by what the newspaper prints for all to see.
are you talking about a law that requries the county record dept to publish all this in a paper? I am not familiar with that if it is the case.
Certain things must be published but I am not sure all of this has to be published. Also the publishing has to be in a certain form. This is almost always done by the involved party or their attorney.
unpc – is it public record and available to everyone who wishes to see it. However, as part of being legal, it must be published in the paper of record or circulation as part of the legal requirements. That is law.
A ticked off reader cannot change that. Only our high priced legislators can do that.
I assume you are talking about the section which gave info as to marriages, divorces, etc. If I am not mistaken this is public record and anyone can go look it up. However, while probably legal, it is somewhat questionable. I see nothing wrong with listing crimes and the perpetrators but do we really need to know who got a divorce or who filed for bankruptcy? What is the purpose? If anyone really needs to know they can go look it up.
I think that new format of the Anniston Star is disrespectable of the people of Calhoun County. People information should not be printed like it was in yesterday’s issue. This is an invasion of people privacy. And I hope someone sues the Anniston Star. I guess the Anniston Star needed to start something new. Its fine to put the Most wanted info in there. What else is next?? To the employees of the Anniston Star would you want your personal information made public. TO THE CITIZENS OF CALHOUN COUNTY LETS START A PETITION TO REMOVE THIS………….
