Gambling interests spent $6.3M in 2010 elections, analysis shows
Gambling interests, including some headed by operators now under indictment, pumped nearly $6.3 million into Alabama's 2010 elections.
An analysis by The Birmingham News showed that 144 political action committees handled contributions originating from the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, Birmingham and Shorter dog tracks operated by Milton McGregor, Eutaw's Greenetrack, the closed Country Crossing casino in Dothan, and others between the opening of campaigns in June 2009 and the end of 2010.
