Gambling in­terests, including some headed by operators now under indictment, pumped nearly $6.3 million into Alabama's 2010 elections.

An analysis by The Birming­ham News showed that 144 political action committees handled contri­butions originating from the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, Bir­mingham and Shorter dog tracks operated by Milton McGregor, Eutaw's Greenetrack, the closed Country Crossing casino in Dot­han, and others between the open­ing of campaigns in June 2009 and the end of 2010.
